It keeps you running

Or, GETS me running, more accurately. Recently, I was challenged by a co-worker to take part in the CIBC Run for the Cure. It’s a 5k run in downtown Toronto each year to combat Breast Cancer. And since I happen to have breasts and would like to keep them healthy, I figured it was an apt cause.

There’s just one little snag. I’m not a runner. Partially because the pair of breasts I do own can make running a little bit painful, and mostly because I’m a giant lazy ass. I have less than 1 month to be able to tackle this. Now, a 5k is nowhere near as daunting as a marathon, or a half marathon. In fact, I’m sure I could complete a mostly-walking 5k with no problems at all. But why not use this opportunity as a way to get myself in gear? Especially when I’ve got a vacation coming up, where I’ll get to run in Central Park. So, I’ve bought some fancy new running shoes, and am easing into interval training.

Seriously, the things I’ve done in the past few weeks are making me wonder just who I am.

Girliest year ever.

Continuing the trend, I’m now in love with Kiehl’s. Damn you, 40% off sale!

Topcoat, Topcoat, my kingdom for good topcoat!

2008 has been a year where I’ve found myself becoming more and more girly. For example, here are some things I’ve recently had on my non-work to do list:

Buy Diorshow mascara. Use coupon at the Bay to get a free lipgloss. Eventually get sucked into gift with purchase scam that causes me to buy even MORE Dior cosmetics that I can’t actually afford, but now completely love.

Find a purplish nail polish.

Find a top coat that allows me to go more than 24 hours before my nails chip. Or one that doesn’t somehow activate my nail polish and slowly turn the top coat into a translucent version of my nail polish.

Get a working curling iron and/or hot rollers. Subsequently, learn how to use.

Buy cute clothes.

Find cute shoes that don’t hurt and allow me to walk to the subway without wanting to chop off my feet.

Find the perfect red lipstick. One that doesn’t wear me.

Perfect beachy, wavy hair.

All of the above have made me wonder if I’m going through some kind of delayed adolescence. I think I sort of am. Is 27 the new 15?

stacy and clinton are so right!

The other day, I went shopping. For some reason, I decided that finding some new spring clothes would somehow trigger something in nature and all the snow would go the crap away already. That didn’t work, but having cute new outfits certainly had an effect on my self-esteem.

The What Not to Wear gang totally have it right. When you feel good about how you look, you feel good about everything. Period. you walk taller, feel hotter, are more open to things, all of that stuff we usually think is crap. But it’s so not.

It’s gonna be hard not to go on another shopping spree this weekend. Because I am a serious fan of looking cute.
